The first thing that comes to mind when looking at the various pictures of the Gaede twins is that they look like every other 13-year old suburban teenage girl who fills the local malls on the weekend. The snippets of their music I have heard sound innocuous enough, until one listens a little more closely to the lyrics.
Prussian Blue, you see, is a folk duo dedicated to promoting white supremacist ideology. Here is a sample, from the song "Aryan Man Awake":
When the man who plows the fields is driven from his lands
When the carpenter must give away what he's built with his own hands
When a mother's only children belong to her no more
And black masked men with guns come bashing down the doors
Where freedom exists for only those with darker skin
Where lies and propaganda will never let you win
Where symbols of your heritage are held with such contempt
And benefits of country 'cept tax are you exempt .Aryan man awake, How much more will you take,
Turn that fear to hate, Aryan man awake.
The band's name is a reference to the blue eyes of the girls, as well as their self-described Prussian heritage. More ominously, the girls have also suggested that the name is an inside joke about Zyklon-B, one of the toxic gasses used in Hitler's concentration camps to exterminate Jews, Slavs, and homosexuals.
Much like the typical childhood performers, Lynx and Lamb are largely the product of their warped environment. Their mother, April Gaede, is a writer and activist for the National Vanguard, a white power group led by Kevin Strom and based in Charlottesville, VA. Their mother, who doubles as their manager, recently booked them for an interview on ABC's Primetime; the girls, among other things, called Adolf Hitler a "great man," promoted eugenics as a means of improving the human race, and discounted the horrors of the Holocaust.
Not surprisingly, the price of their album "Resistance" is $14.88 on their website (14 represents the "14 words" of white supremacist David Lane - ""We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children" - and "88" translates into the eighth letter, or "HH," which is neo-Nazi shorthand for "Heil Hitler").
How sad that these young women have been filled with an ideology of hate. Sadder still are the untold numbers of teenagers who may be sucked into the world of white supremacy by the deceptively charming packaging of Lynx and Lamb Gaede as harmless little entertainers, like nothing more than the latest reincarnation of the Olsen twins.
May the truth continue to prevail, despite crass efforts by hatemongers like April Gaede to distort history through the disingenuous marketing campaigns of Prussian Blue.
